Introduction
The Marine Development & Advanced Technology database (MDAT_SPATIAL) serves as a centralized repository for spatial data to better understand the interactions between marine development and NOAA Fisheries trust resources (and the scientific surveys that monitor those resources). These resources play a vital role in supporting marine ecosystem health, fisheries productivity, and the conservation of protected species.
The development of this database was partially funded by the Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council (FPISC) and reflects a “shared database, shared schema” approach to data management, which promotes data sharing across scientific and regulatory initiatives.
This data dictionary is meant to catalog and communicate the structure and content of the MDAT_SPATIAL, and provide meaningful descriptions of the data objects for users.
